Science-based companies are vital part of economy! World is a complex place and needs viable solutions to hard problems. No better place to find solutions and answers to complex problems then from the very source of knowledge, science! And its favorite residence, universities.
Goal of the seminar is to promote academic and science based entrepreneurship and to show that investing into such startups and spinoffs is not burning money, but a viable option to make money. Universities and university spinoffs have not gotten the positive attention and fame they deserve, therefore we aim to show the world how heroic and profitable science really can be!
Our key speaker in the seminar is Mr. Lars Jonsson, the director of Uppsala University Holding Company, who has been involved in about 90 investments to startup companies and has published works about university-industry collaboration.
To get more value out of event we tap into the expertise of Mr. Joseph Wei, who is a co-founder and Managing Director of Lab360 Hardware Incubator (www.Lab360.com), an incubator that provides investment, mentorship, and business acceleration for early stage startups focusing on IoT, wearable, and other smart, connected hardware solutions. Lab360 is supported by Qihoo 360 (NYSE:QIHU), one of the leading Internet companies in China. Prior to Lab360, he founded SJW Consulting Inc., (www.sjwconsulting.com).
Event will be held in English.
The organisers of this event are Tartu Ülikool and Tartu Teaduspark. Event is part of Startup Day 2017 programme.
