Rebel Without a Cause (1955), directed by Nicholas Ray, is one of the most iconic representations of teenage rebellion. The middle-class teenagers at the center of the film live in material comfort, but feel lonely and misunderstood by the surrounding culture. The film was extremely influential at the time of the release because it showed a new way of looking at troubled teens. The film is the last and most remembered screen performance of James Dean who has become the voice of youth rebellion thanks to this film.
This semester we are at a new location - University of Tartu main building (Ülikooli 18), room 140. As always, the screening is free!
